Fire

Behavioral advice to be adopted will be determined by the competent authorities after analysis of the emergency situation.

The general public is informed of current the situation, its developments, the measures put in place by the authorities and the correct behavior to adopt, through the different channels of the "LU-Alert" system (depending on the event/situation in progress, this communication is sent via Cell Broadcast, LB-SMS, the LU-Alert application, the lu-alert.lu or infocrise.lu websites, or via the @infocriseLU account on the X platform, as well as via traditional media).

Vegetation and forest fires

  • Do not throw cigarette butts on the ground.
  • Do not light open fires.
  • Only barbecue in designated areas and keep a fire extinguisher (e.g., a container filled with water) nearby.
  • Do not throw barbecue embers into nature. Wait until the embers have cooled down before disposing of them in the designated areas.
  • Do not drive across meadows, fields, or through forests, as both potential sparks and the hot underside of vehicles can potentially start a fire.
  • Do not block access to forest paths or fields to ensure access for the fire department in the event of a vegetation or forest fire.

In case of fire, immediately notify the emergency services by calling 112, provide your exact location (forest rescue point, if available), and show the firefighters the access routes upon their arrival at the scene.

The LU-Alert mobile app

With the “LU-Alert” app, you can follow all the alerts and information issued by the public authorities via the national warning and information system for the population (LU-Alert).

Download the application free of charge from the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store.
